WAGNER, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man arrested after a 2-year-old girl was found dead in his Wagner home has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on drug charges.
KELO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/Ue5Kla ) that 21-year-old Taylor Cournoyer was sentenced Thursday. He had pleaded guilty earlier to possessing methamphetamine and keeping a place for use or sale of drugs.
Cournoyer's 29-year-old wife, Laurie, also faces drug counts, along with charges of child abuse and failing to notify law enforcement about a child's death.
Prosecutors say the girl's body was in a closet in the Cournoyer home for nearly two days in July before anyone reported the death. The Cournoyers were caring for the child but were not her parents.
