RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Marine veteran accused of assaulting a Rapid City police officer has pleaded guilty to third-offense drunken driving.
Twenty-nine-year-old Delano Eagle is accused of struggling with the officer who stopped him on Feb. 26, attempting to choke him and reaching for his gun. Authorities say the incident ended when another officer arrived and used a stun gun on Eagle.
Eagle's family says the Iraq veteran suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. The Rapid City Journal reports (http://bit.ly/Wh348e ) that defense attorney Arnold Laubach plans to argue for a lesser charge when Eagle goes on trial next week on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
