Drivers in the Dakotas deal with slick roads

Jan 28, 2013 -- 1:20pm

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Freezing rain is causing travel problems in parts of the Dakotas.

The National Weather Service early Monday issued advisories for freezing rain and wintry weather in eastern North Dakota, and parts of eastern South Dakota. The rain was forecast to turn to snow later in the day, with heavy amounts possible in some areas.

Several crashes and vehicles in the ditch were reported in eastern South Dakota early Monday. KELO-TV reports that a chain-reaction crash on state Highway 11 between Sioux Falls and Canton involved eight vehicles, but no one was hurt.

The Sioux Falls airport also canceled some early flights.
