SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Sioux Falls police have made an arrest in the weekend slaying of a man in his home.
Twenty-two-year-old Robert Bass III, of Sioux Falls, is charged with second-degree murder and an alternate count of first-degree manslaughter in the beating death of 50-year-old Cresencio Conde-Vargas.
Investigators say the two men had recently become acquainted and were drinking together early Saturday when a fight broke out. Bass is accused of hitting Conde-Vargas in the head several times with a baseball bat. Conde-Vargas was found Monday when he did not show up for work.
Bass is expected in court Wednesday afternoon.
Separate homicide cases also are proceeding in Rapid City and Peever. No arrest has been made in the Rapid City motel parking lot shooting death of 33-year-old Eustacio Marrufo.
